7000 blinking red cells, which were part of the façade of the Swiss Pavilion on the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai have already been sold in the shop of the Pavilion.

Exhibition ‘Carte Blanche VIII’ — Diener & Diener Architects


The exhibition ‘Carte Blanche VIII’, which is staged in Architekturforum Zurich, presents twelve new buildings and projects by Diener & Diener Architects and gives an insight into important themes of their work. iart has cooperated with Diener & Diener on two of those projects: the Shopping Mall Stücki, Basel and the CityGate Areal in Basel. Within the exhibition, iart supported the architects in planning and realising a media installation of light and changing pictures of Diener & Diener buildings, covering two corners of the room.

Valentin Spiess at the Scenographers’ Festival

From 2 to 5 December, the Scenographers’ Festival is held in Basel. As part of “Media Special – talking spaces” Valentin Spiess will talk about the challenge to achieve an increase in quality through a jointly developed reduction of content, material or space.

The section takes place on 3 December at 9:15 to 12:30 a.m. in the “Rossstall 1″ at the Kaserne. The program of the festival.

Opening of the ‘i-factory’ at the Swiss Museum of Transport

On 18 November the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne will inaugurate its new permanent exhibition ‘i-factory – understanding informatics’ within the framework of i-days 2010. iart interactive has planned and realised the many media stations for the exhibition: their innovative features include four multi-user/multi-touch media tables with a specially developed interface design, a play figure with a corresponding virtual “i-friend” and a “data check” to evaluate the visit and permit comparison with other visitors’ activities. ‘Looking forward Looking back’ – discussion at [plug.in]

On November 11, 2010, 6.30 p.m., [plug.in] presents the discussion ‘Looking forward Looking back’ about the changes in art, technology and society in the context of [plug.in]’s 10 years anniversary exhibition. Valentin Spiess, CEO iart interactive ag, is invited to the informal talk with Li Zhenhua, media art curator in China and Switzerland and Annette Schindler, director [plug.in]. The guests will take a critical look at [plug.in] and its future project, the house of electronic arts, from their perspective. The talk will be held in English.

‘Colour, Light and Experiment’ exhibition in Halle

As part of a research project on colour and light, the ColourLight Center of the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) is currently developing new materials for an integrated colour and light theory, which is being publicly presented for the first time in the exhibition ‘Colour, Light and Experiment’. iart interactive has assisted the ZHdK in developing and producing interactive colour/light boxes that show selected colour/light phenomena (light/dark contrast, simultaneous contrast, coloured shadows, after-images). Additional manual dimmers permit the individual adjustment of the colours, inviting visitors to experiment on their own. Read More

Only shortly after being awarded a red dot design prize, the Façade of the Swiss pavilion at World Expo 2010 in Shanghai has now received an ‚iF communication design gold award 2010’! Read More

The Messel Pit — Opening of the new Visitor Information Centre

The Messel Pit — Germany’s first UNESCO world natural heritage site and of extraordinary importance for the scientific examination and evaluation of the prehistoric objects found there — opened on 26 august 2010. In the spectacular building created by the architects Landau + Kindelbacher, the design of which echoes the structures of the oil shale in the pit, the permanent exhibition designed for the new information centre by Holzer Kobler Architekturen Zurich provides visitors with fascinating insights into bygone eras. iart interactive is responsible for the conception and planning of the numerous media installations and for the architectural and showcase lighting in the public areas of the new visitor information centre.
