On 14 March the new temporary exhibition of the Museum of History in Bern was opened. Until 17 November 2013 the Museum will be presenting ‘Qin – The eternal emperor and his terracotta warriors’. The exhibition focuses on the First Emperor Qin Shi Huangdi and his monumental tomb with its famous terracotta army, discovered by peasants in 1974 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. iart has contributed the media productions and installations to the exhibition. From 15 November 2012 to 11 February 2013, the Orientalist Museum presented the temporary exhibition ‘The Art of Travel: Bartholomäus Schachman (1559-1614)’ in Al-Riwaq Hall, Doha, Qatar. iart contributed the ‘time machine’ of the exhibition: a circular video installation for immersion into major events of the sixteenth century. The new urban quarter ‘Europaallee’, located next to the Zurich main station, includes the college of education, several office buildings and a shopping mall. Commissioned by the SBB, iart contributed the light and sound concept as well as the planning and realisation of the media installations in the shopping mall. Read More
iart participated in this year`s X Media Lab ‘Participation Culture’, an internationally acclaimed event of digital, cultural and creative industries. Already at the VIP evening on September 13, iart caused quite a stir with an interactive projection in the foyer. The projection reacted to mobile devices of the incoming guests. Each additional device connected to the museum WLAN was identified and caused a new dot within the network structure on the wall. Next to the dot, names of those networks appeared to which the device had been connected before. Due to the visitors’ presence the projected network changed its structure, composition, colour and size. Read More
At the summit of the Gotthard, 2091 metres above sea level, embedded in the gallery of the former fortress ‘Sasso da Pigna’, a new exhibition has been created: ‘Sasso San Gottardo’. At the heart of the exhibition is the human challenge of handling natural resources and sustainability, divided into seven areas: energy, mobility and living space, security, crystalls, water, weather and climate, history. Based on a concept from Holzer Kobler Architekturen, the exhibition was created between October 2011 and August 2012. iart was part of the exhibition team and responsible for the multimedia installations and scenical illumination. On August 17, 2012 the “Collectors’ Museum” at the Historical Museum Frankfurt opened its doors. The collections of 12 Frankfurter collectors are displayed on three floors. Children and adults can dive into the collectors’ historic rooms via interactive media and learn more about their objects. Taking a seat in one of the audio chairs allows the visitor to select one of the objects on display, to activate the illumination of the object and to get the according story told. Pillars with the collectors’ portraits and biographies bear surprises: The portraits are applied on glass panels and vanish on approach. The movement activates the light in the pillar, the glass turns transparent and unveils the collector’s favourite object. Read More
