Raiffeisenbank Kreuzplatz Zurich — Interactive Media Table
On 10 February 2011 the Raiffeisenbank opened a new branch: Raiffeisen Private Financial Consulting on the Kreuzplatz in Zurich. iart interactive planned, designed and realised a new interactive media table for the elegant premises designed by the consortium of Drexler Guinand Jauslin Architects Ltd and NAU Zurich.
All the media tables we have produced in recent years have incorporated new tailor-made functions, features and interfaces adapted to suit clients’ individual needs. This is particularly true of the Open Lounge of Raiffeisenbank’s new ‘Private Financial Consulting’ branch on the Kreuzplatz. As well as optimising the technology and user-friendliness, we took the scenography of the space and Raiffeisenbank’s Corporate Identity into account when developing the interface for the application.
The innovative concept offers a wide range of features for bank clients and staff. Content is automatically generated, with stock market data even being updated every second. The bank’s staff can use the media table as an advisory tool while its clients can use it for independent research. Anyone wanting to inform themselves innovatively about topical themes relating to the Raiffeisenbank can activate the media table’s interface intuitively and without prior introduction by means of finger tracking. The content is arranged in a way that makes random as well as focused research possible.
The navigation structure is easy to grasp: The individual subject areas, which are offered via triangular icons, are organised in four theme clouds that are constantly in motion on the interface: News, Stock Market, Local Developments, Raiffeisenbank. If the user touches one of these triangles, it moves into the foreground while the other fields recede. The activated window opens and the related information becomes visible in the form of text and images. The information can be either static content or constantly updated content dynamically generated from various digital data banks including, for example, stock market news relating to shares, foreign exchange and investment products, RSS news relating to politics, sport, culture and the economy, and Raiffeisenbank news relating to subjects like medium-term notes, mortgages and interest rates.
The choice of colours, typeface and other features of the interface design corresponds to the Corporate Identity of the Raiffeisenbank’s new branch. Echoing the perforated interior façade created by the architects, the interface triangles treating the topic ‘Local Developments’ show the portraits of culturally important figures connected with the Kreuzplatz.
