Historical Museum BaselThe new permanent exhibition ‘Understanding the World’ in the Historical Museum Basel is completed. Since 13 November 2011 the presentation covers an area of 1200 square meters in the basement of the Barfüsserkirche. Divided in the areas ‘Art Chamber’, ‘Medieval Tapestries’, ‘Archaeology in Basel’ and ‘Coin Cabinet’, the exhibition gives a profound insight into various facets of Basel’s history, provided by around 2000 objects from Roman times to the Baroque, and their stories. Their mediation is given by media installations, audio recordings and interactive stations. iart was – in cooperation with Atelier Gillman – responsible for the concept and planning of the exhibition media.
